Epic Expands Vintage Heart Albums
Epic/Legacy has set a June 29 release date for expanded editions of three vintage Heart albums: 1977's "Little Queen," 1978's "Dog & Butterfly" and 1980's "Bebe Le Strange." All three sets sport a handful of previously unreleased tracks from archives of the Ann and Nancy Wilson-led group.
"Little Queen" is best known for the hard-rocking single "Barracuda," which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The set has been expanded to include a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" recorded in 1976 at an unknown club in Vancouver, plus a home demo of album track "Love Alive" titled "Too Long a Time."
"Dog & Butterfly" notched two singles within the top 40 of the Hot 100, the breezy title cut (No. 34) and the more rock-oriented "Straight On" (No. 15). The new edition sports a 1978 live recording of "Heartless," the previously unreleased "A Little Bit" and "Feels," which was later reworked for "Johnny Moon," from 1983's "Passionworks."
"Bebe Le Strange" achieved a then career-best No. 5 showing on The Billboard 200 upon its March 1980 release, thanks in part to the single "Even It Up," which reached No. 33 on the Hot 100. The previously unreleased tracks "Jackleg Man" and the live "Break" are included as bonus cuts.
As previously reported, Heart will on June 22 release its first new studio album in nearly 10 years, "Jupiter's Darling," via Sovereign Artists. The group begins a European tour June 3 in Dublin and will hit the U.S. beginning July 22 in Redmond, Wash.
